frankenpooch and the electric chair

sorry to bore you with another plush pic, but it took me the better part of the day to finish her and so it's all i've got for show and tell. well, that and my new electric chair...it's something i dragged home from a neighbors driveway and gave it about 6 coats of banana slug yellow.

i thought it was the perfect perch for my new frankenpooch.

CIMG0104

overall, i think she turned out pretty stinkin cute.

CIMG0104.a

the spiked collar made all the difference.

matilda's not quite sure about her yet.

CIMG0103

i know it looks like she's giving her a smooch, but she's actually trying to rip off one of the spikes. i think her plushy clone makes her a little bit nervous...when i first showed her she ran for cover. hopefully she'll warm up to her new friend:)

anyways, the real pooch is restless, as usual...so now i've got to figure out what to do with her for fun this afternoon.

running with the bull(dog)s

remember this? well, i finally found time to whip up a sample.

CIMG0101

i can't tell if she looks too surprised or maybe a little bit angry. i'll have to hang out with her for awhile and see what i think. i have already cut a small batch and plan to work on some more tonight.

my boyfriend is out of the country in scotland to visit his parents...they actually live just a few minutes away from us, but have spent the past 3 months living in edinburgh. so me and matilda have been getting in some serious girl time. he doesn't come home for another week or so since they are all going to spain on thursday to run with the bulls.  he's been practicing 'running with the bulldog' for a few weeks now so hopefully he will come home in one piece:)

since he's been gone, matilda and i have been spending our days in the living room on the couch watching the big screen with the sewing machine set up on the coffee table and our evenings doing yoga and some quiet reading. it's kind of peaceful to be home alone, but it gets a little lonely sometimes...we're lucky to have each other.

anyways, i just got back from a lunch date with a couple of girlfriends and i owe matilda a trip to huckleberry...as promised.

so i will say ttfn.

turning over a new leaf

thank you SO MUCH for all your thoughtful comments on my new shop..they really are priceless!

i have decided to use a combination of the 2 for awhile in order to take advantage of the features offered by both sites. i simply cannot part with the etsy community and the search capabilities, but i also LOVE the set up of the new site at big cartel. i believe there is a way to work this shop into my website address and have asked my fabulous web designer for help.

Flowers

on the design front...i made a big ol' pile of flowers this weekend and have also been working on some new clutches. can you believe it's already the last day of june? time to start thinking about fall designs. crazy!

anyways, hope you all had a relaxing and creative weekend.

moving on...

i came across a new site today called bigcartel

and i couldn't resist giving it a try.

Motorbike copy

etsy has served me well for the last couple years, but change can be a good thing. right? i'm not sure if i'm completely ready to jump ship, but i've weighed the pros and cons and it seems like a viable alternative.

pros: custom colors and layout, flat monthly rate, i can rearrange my items however i want, my viewer stats are private and they won't take a percentage of my sales.

cons: no searches and can't save items or sellers to faves.

the fact that i can rearrange my stuff however i want instead of everything being set in stone after i upload it is worth the price of admission so to me it seems like a no brainer, i just wonder if will miss the community.

anyways, i have started transferring a couple items that you can see here...and will be adding more on my next update. i will be keeping my etsy shop open for now until i decide to pull the plug.

i would love to hear what you think!

dead heads

i have been feeling super sensitive to all the smoke in the air. there are now over 1000 fires burning up and down the state of california. hard to imagine! the air has been FILLED with smoke for the past few days and it's really starting to take it's toll on my airways. there is a warning today to stay inside with the window closed tight. poor matilda didn't get her walk yesterday and can't quite understand why she has been trapped in the tiny house with her little smoosh face pressed against the sliding glass door.

anyways, since i'm feeling like a bit of a dead head myself with burning eyes a scratchy throat and dizzy ears i thought i'd post about my dead headed roses from this weekend.

Stairs

... here is a shot of the petals on the tiny house stairs...

i have a few errands to take care of today, but will otherwise be crouched in the tiny house next to my ionic breeze.

bits n pieces

i was going through an old inspiration folder over the weekend and came across some sweet ideas.

Yarn flowers.a

this one is from an old martha stewart living magazine.

Yarn flowers

i haven't tried it yet, but i think these flowers would be adorable pinned on a colorful cardigan.

Spools

this pretty spool idea is from mary engelbreit's home companion.

i have a ton of old spools, but they are all plastic...i think you've gotta use the crafty wooden ones, but wouldn't these make an adorable mobile?

Swatch book

and i love this swatch book.

i think with all the spoonflower going around...it's a MUST!

happy monday.

spoonflower addict

...plain and simple...

Swatches

i can't seem to tear myself away from the computer today

which isn't so bad since it's about 100 degrees outside

and the tiny house is the coolest spot i've got.

still not sure if any of these will actually make the cut,

but i think it's a delicious start.
